Welcome to a new chapter of the Technology Law Club, Redeemer’s University.
A new administration, a fresh session, and plenty of interesting things ahead. Whether you already have an interest in technology law or you are simply curious about what happens when technology and the law meet, we are glad to have you here.
Technology is moving fast. One minute, we are discovering a new AI tool, and the next, we are asking questions about privacy, copyright, data, or who is responsible when things go wrong. From Artificial Intelligence and data protection to cybersecurity, intellectual property, FinTech, blockchain, and e-commerce, technology continues to create new questions for the law to answer.
For instance, Nigeria is currently looking at how its data protection framework can respond to emerging technological challenges, with the Senate Committee on ICT and Cybersecurity announcing plans to review the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023. It leaves us with a pretty interesting question: as technology keeps evolving, can the law keep up?
That is exactly the kind of conversation we want to explore.
The 2026/2027 administration has a lot planned for this session, from discussions, research and webinars to competitions, career conversations, collaborations and more. Through this blog, we will also be bringing you tech law updates, interesting cases, career opportunities and conversations that make this field a little easier and hopefully, more exciting to understand.
